NEWSLETTER JUNE 2015

  1. Post-Election Lobby of Parliament Tuesday 23 June

The PSC is organising a national lobby of parliament to raise the profile of the Palestinian struggle and all the related issues with newly-elected MPs. You can find details about how to contact your MP to arrange an appointment and also which issues to focus on during your discussion on the following link:

www.palestinecampaign.org/lobby-15/

Please contact us if you plan to participate so that we can put you in touch with other supporters from your constituency who plan to attend.

  1. Public Meeting about “Gaza under Siege”

We are very pleased that Prof. Colin Green has agreed to come and give a presentation about the impact of the ongoing siege of Gaza one year after Israel’s horrendous attack. Prof. Green has had a distinguished career as a surgeon and academic and is currently Emeritus Professor of Surgery at University College London. For many years he has played a pivotal role in the development of health education in Palestine, helping to set up the Faculty of Medicine at Al Quds University in 1994 and the Palestinian Centre for Health Sciences Education in Ramallah in 2008. In 2004 he was awarded the Millenium Medal by President Yasser Arafat for his “services to Palestine”. In 2000 he also set up the International Medical Education Trust as a UK-based charity where he continues his work in support of Palestine.

3) West Surrey PSC Garden Party

We are pleased to invite all members and supporters of West Surrey PSC to a fund-raising garden party in Godalming on Saturday 22 August 3-7pm. National PSC has asked local branches to raise a total of £10,000 to finance their campaign work. If branches succeed in raising this amount, then a private donor will match the amount with a further donation of £10,000. Apart from raising much-needed campaigning funds, this is a good opportunity to meet each other and chat about our aims in a more informal setting. Further details to follow but please note this date in your diary.

4) Children’s Orchestra of Gaza

Brighton PSC has launched a campaign to bring a group of young musicians from the Gaza Music School to the UK next May to participate in the Brighton Festival. See the following link for further details about this exciting, worthwhile project and how to donate to the initial funding needed:
