@70: Celebration of Contemporary Palestinian Culture, taking place from the 14-20 May.

This is a week-long festival of theatre, dance, films and talks commemorating the Palestinian experience of dispossession and loss of a homeland.

Every year on May 15, Palestinians around the world, mark the Nakba - the dispossession and displacement of Palestinians in 1948. This year we are marking 70 years since the Nakba; 70 years of ethnic cleansing leading to the apartheid reality of today.

This exceptional and unique series of events is coordinated by three artists from Gaza – Ahmed Masoud, Ahmed Najar and Khalid Ziyada, working closely with Amnesty International UK, the Hoping Foundation, Amos Trust, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Al Zaytouna Dance Theatre to bring together this creative response to decades of injustice.
The week of events in central London also features a PSC Conference: At 70- Palestinian Refugees and the Right of Return, with a range of Palestinian voices and specialists, to discuss the ongoing tragedy of the largest refugee group in the world and their right to return to their homeland as enshrined in international law. www.palestinecampaign.org/events/psc-returnconf

PSC Conference – @70: Palestinian Refugees and the Right of Return

https://www.palestinecampaign.org/events/psc-returnconf/

This year we are marking 70 years since the Nakba; 70 years of ethnic cleansing leading to the apartheid reality of today. Disparate Palestinian communities experience Israel’s imposition of unjust structures of power: whether living under siege in Gaza, living   under direct military occupation in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, living as citizens of Israel denied full equality under the law or expelled in 1948 and 1967 and denied the right of return.

The PSC Right of Return conference – @70: Palestinian Refugees and the Right of Return – aims to provide the tools and education necessary for activists in the UK to continue to campaign for the right of return of Palestinian refugees, as enshrined in International law. Thus the conference will include sessions on international law, and the historical background of the displacement of now over 5 Million Palestinians. Further session will hear of the experience of the refugees and the various discourses encompassing the right of return.
