Veolia Dumped Again!

Veolia Environmental Services was one of the shortlist of three for the £600-800 million 25 year contract for building an incinerator to serve North Wales.  The North Wales Residual Waste Treatment Project (NWRWTP), a joint procurement by Flintshire county council, Conwy county borough council, Denbighshire county council, Gwynedd council and the Isle of Anglesey county council, has been seeking a contractor to build and operate a waste treatment facility.   The Conwy County Peace Group has spearheaded a local campaign for the exclusion of Veolia from this contract for its grave misconduct in supporting Israel’s illegal settlements.  NWRWTP has now dropped Veolia from its short list.

As one of the earliest built in Europe and has a charming garden courtyard around it evocative of the traditional pattern of mosques in the Middle East. As well as stalls and events during the day of the Mela, there will be food there and it will be open from 11am to 6pm.

Palestinians are suffering as the Israeli state continues to steal their land and water,
and destroy their homes and lives. If we buy or sell Israeli produce, we are giving
money to Israel and helping Israel to continue its unjust actions.

LIFE ON THE WEST BANK

What is life like for Palestinians in Bethlehem? What impact does the Israeli occupation have on their everyday activities? Paul Farmer spent three months living alongside Palestinians as part of the Ecumenical Accompanier Programme, which is run by the Society of Friends (Quakers) on behalf of the World Council of Churches. You are warmly invited to hear about his experience and learn more about the situation in Palestine:
